Peter’s Point Beachfront Park is located on the Northeast Florida coast. It’s a beautiful beach to go camping on and you can drive on it. All you need to have is a permit to drive on the beach and it’s only $5.00 per day, or $25.00 for a year pass. There are facilities  located at the beach that have bathrooms, outdoor rinse location as well as indoor showers. I didn’t determine if there was hot water though… Forgot to check in to that.

While I only spent one night here, it was quite nice. I was out with some of my fellow Southeast Overland Bound members. We had a great time just hanging out around the fire. I always enjoy organizing an Overland Bound Rally Point because you get to meet so many new people. You get families, young adults just starting out with camping and overlanding and old timers that have been doing it since before the term “overland” was reintroduced to our vocabulary. All have stories of life and I haven’t met a particularly bad apple yet.

A draw-back to camping here is that you can get hooligans that get wasted-drunk and have extremely loud parties with overly large fires. We opted to drive all the way down the beach to the very end of where you are allowed to drive and set up camp there. One thing to note is that if you park far down the beach, you’ll have to get in to your truck and drive to the bathrooms. So if you’re sporting a rooftop tent, you’re going to need to keep that in mind. You’re either going to have to break camp, or walk about a mile to use the restroom.

If you decide to have a fire on the beach, I ask that you please be very responsible with your fires and don’t burn pallets or boards with nails or staples in them.

Activities Allowed:
Beach Fishing
Driving on Beach
Fires on beach

Though recently vastly changed by hurricane Irma, the city has been working to rebuild the beach.

Beware:

At the time of this post (December 2017), the tide in certain areas, particularly at the end of the area that allows vehicles, come up very high now. Check the tide charts and observe where the markings of previous high tides have been.
